Ebru KARABAL

Education

B.S. Middle East Technical University, Biology 2000

M.S. Middle East Technical University,  Biology (since 2000)

Research Interests

Physiological and biochemical changes under boron toxicity in differentially sensitive and tolerant cultivars of barley.

Effect of boron toxicity on the antioxidant enzyme (superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase) activities.

Effect of boron toxicity on lipid peroxidation and cell membrane stability. Possible relationship between tolerance to excess boron concentrations and antioxidant defence system in barley.

Professional Skills

Native, denaturating and 2-D gel electrophoresis techniques, negative activity staining for determination SOD isoenzymes, silver staining, proline content determination, spectrophotometric methods for determination of enzyme activities, qualitative and quantitative protein determination by several methods.

Seminar Attended

September 2001 12th National Biotechnology Congress (Balıkesir/Turkey)
